WIMR’s Annual Scientific Operations team Planning Day 2025

What an energising and inspiring Annual Planning Day with our incredible Scientific Operations team at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research! Thank you, Aileen, for organising this wonderful event for us.

Today we celebrated our achievements, reflected on the challenges we’ve overcome in 2025, and started mapping out our goals for 2026. I’m so proud to work with this dream team—a group where every member is generous in supporting each other, highly collaborative, and always striving for excellence.

Together, we now support >1,300 users, >320 research groups, >60 organisations, and >800 projects. It’s amazing to see how the team continues to grow our capabilities—developing new applications, expanding service packages, and supporting a wide range of research and translational projects across Westmead, nationally, and even internationally.

Our cross-training program is running strongly, ensuring essential services and training are covered by multiple team members. We also introduced more end-to-end pipelines via PrecisionGo project to simplify logistics for researchers. This year alone, we co-developed over 30 new applications with our users, further broadening what we can offer the research community.

A special shout-out to Roshni Sharma GAICD, our brilliant in-house facilitator, for leading meaningful team activities that helped us better understand ourselves and each other—strengthening collaboration in such a genuine way.

And of course, the Award Ceremony was one of the highlights of the day. Congratulations to all the teams and individuals recognised today. You are truly the essential engine behind research at Westmead and beyond. I am genuinely honoured to lead this amazing team. Your dedication, collaboration, excellence, and generosity inspire me every day.

Looking forward to even more exciting and impactful 2026 ahead!
