🧠✨ Seeing what was once invisible

We’re excited to share a new capability at the #Westmead #Imaging #Facility: imaging GFP⁺ brain tumours in live animals using our IVIS system within the Preclinical Imaging Facility at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research and Westmead Research Hub.

GFP is notoriously difficult to detect in vivo - especially in the brain - but our team has pushed the boundaries by implementing a spectral unmixing approach that cleanly separates true GFP signal from background noise. The result? Clear, reliable visualisation of tumours where it really matters.

This advance opens the door to:
🔬 More accurate, non-invasive monitoring of tumour burden
💊 Better assessment of drug efficacy over time
🎯 Faster, more confident decisions in brain cancer research

It’s a great example of how technical innovation, deep expertise, and the right infrastructure can come together to accelerate translational impact. Great work Hui Zhang and team!
