Why PrecisionGo exists
Precision medicine research and clinical translation often slow or stall not because of a lack of scientific capability, but because work becomes fragmented across disconnected facilities, teams, and processes. This fragmentation creates duplication, unclear handovers, and loss of momentum between discovery and clinical application.
PrecisionGo was designed to address this problem. Its purpose is to support integrated, translation-focused precision medicine by providing a coordinated pathway that helps research and clinical work move more coherently from question to insight, and toward real-world use.
PrecisionGo is designed as durable infrastructure, intended to support clinically relevant, scalable research over time. It exists to enable others’ work, not to own it.
Collaboration, learning, and continuous refinement are central to how PrecisionGo operates, reflecting the reality that meaningful translation is cumulative and sustained.
PrecisionGo within the Westmead Research Hub
PrecisionGo is embedded within the Westmead Research Hub, one of Australia’s largest and most complex health and research precincts. This means PrecisionGo is designed in close proximity to real clinical environments, diverse patient populations, and active translational research programs. This context shapes how PrecisionGo’s workflows are designed, how governance is applied, and how translation is understood in practice. Researchers and clinicians continue to work with trusted partners, while benefiting from a more coordinated and navigable pathway.
What PrecisionGo is (and is not)
PrecisionGo is not a single facility, and it is not just a digital platform. It is also not a loose network of independent services. PrecisionGo is a coordinated precision medicine pathway and piece of shared research infrastructure. It connects multiple core facilities, workflows, and governance structures through a common operating intent, supported by a digital platform. This design helps complex studies function as integrated systems rather than sequences of disconnected steps.
How PrecisionGo is designed to work
PrecisionGo is shaped by a small number of deliberate design principles which reduce fragmentation and make complex work more achievable:
Integration by design: Technologies, teams, and workflows are intentionally connected to support end-to-end pathways, not isolated services.
Customisation and adaptability: Workflows are designed to flex to study needs and clinical variability, rather than forcing work into fixed models.
Coordinated access and governance: A single, coordinated entry point is supported by clear governance, quality oversight, and ethical frameworks.
A focus on translation: Translation is considered from the outset, recognising that impact requires alignment across science, systems, and practice.

PrecisionGo places strong emphasis on governance, stewardship, and quality as enabling foundations. Oversight through the Westmead Research Hub supports ethical practice, transparency, accountability, and consistency across participating facilities and activities. Through this, PrecisionGo is able to support confidence and legitimacy without adding unnecessary burden, creating an environment where complex research and translational work can proceed responsibly.

PrecisionGo is supported by clinicians, researchers, technical specialists, and governance contributors working across disciplines. Responsibility for coordination and oversight is explicit, ensuring accountability while enabling collaboration.
